Lavanya was orphaned at a very young age and is brought up by her aged grandparents, who survive on a meager pension. She did not fare well in her studies as there was no one to guide or help her with her lessons in the family and resulted in her scoring single digit marks in the exams.
The encouragement from her teacher Buela made her join the Germs of Disha program. With the support of Thuyavan, her teacher at the Development Center, Lavanya gained confidence and has shown immense improvement in her academics now.
Lavanya wants a career in medial profession and dreams of becoming a nurse. She is inspired by the kind nurse who took care of here at the Government Medical Hospital, where she was admitted once.
